“Squaretangle # 3,” from the Squaretangle Series is my tribute to Josef Albers, who used the square to demonstrate color theory.

By juxtaposing colors, one square inside another, Albers showed color relationships—how the same color seemed to change depending upon what color surrounded it. This series focuses on color, composition, texture and form.

I used various color combinations that resonate with each other and combined them with a contrasting color that adds an element of surprise and a note of whimsy. Underlying the oils, a layer of acrylic resin squares and lines gives added texture to the surface of the canvas.

 
     
 
  Pansy Tang
Pansy Tang was born in Hong Kong. She attended the Rosaryhill School. She studied Interior Design at the First Institute of Art and Design. She graduated from the Chingying Institute of Visual Arts with a major in Commercial Design. She also studied for Diploma Fine Art at Hong Kong Art School and Bachelor of Fine Art at the Rmit. Her work has been exhibited in numerous group shows. She is currently tutoring for children and youth art course.
